Masabi - the ticket office in your pocket
Masabi is a London-based developer of secure mobile ticketing applications for the transport industry. Ending the daily frustration of queues at the train station, Masabi's world-leading and award-winning technology allows consumers to buy and display rail tickets on the majority of mobile phones in use today, removing the need to queue at ticket machines or kiosks.
Masabi is working together with major integrators Atos Origin and thetrainline.com to make these services available for UK rail operators, with activities underway to enhance ticketing for Chiltern Railways, East Coast, Heathrow Express and thetrainline.com's own ticket sales service. In December 2008 the company’s design for a secure barcode ticket was adopted as a national standard by the UK Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC).
Masabi worked with the Gateway2investment (G2i) programme, helping to prepare for the company’s Series A funding round, to support widespread commercial deployments with rail operators throughout the UK, and to expand use of the technology internationally.
"The support and advice we have received has been invaluable in helping to apply insights into investor perspectives to our business proposition. We have been able to get early introductions to and feedback from potential investors, not only to attract investment, but also to generate interest in the company's strategy and development for future funding rounds" said Ben Whitaker, CEO of Masabi
