Patricia Adler is the innovator behind MagScapes - a printable magnet-receptive vinyl substrate. Created primarily as a wallcovering, the substrate is lightweight but very strong so can also be used as wall posters, borders and banners. The vinyl is receptive to all generic magnetic material (fridge magnet). This invention was granted a UK patent in 2006 - the product is now manufactured in UK and has been tested for high speed; gravure as well as digital printing processes. The lightweight vinyl was developed initially for the wallcoverings markets. Its digital printability has also allowed for custom one-off or short-run print service that has been provided by the London based company since 2005. Designer wallcoverings began in 2006 with a short-run for Cole & Son Wallcoverings - MagScapes now produce their own range of designer wallcoverings with matching magnets sets. Since 2006, additional markets have now been identified. MagScapes are now producing a range of kids products for Habitat Group. Mattel and Hasbro have also expressed interest in using MagScapes for toy and games development.
